Today's Word of Blessing

HUMBLE BEFORE GOD

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.    (James 4:6)
Dearly beloved, God is gracious to the humble. He blesses them with riches, honour and life.

In Luke 18:10-14, we read about a Pharisee and a tax collector who went to the temple and prayed. The Pharisee prided in praying: “God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector” (Luke 18:11).

Pride very often prevents the Lord from listening to our prayers. The Bible states, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6, Proverbs 3:34).

There are some who become bloated with pride on receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit. When they pray with that pride, the Lord resists them. Remember the fate of Herod. The Bible relates, “Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died” (Acts 12:23).

Once I read a tragic story. Many fantastic miracles were performed through a couple so mightily used by God. Once while they were ministering in a foreign country, they were taken to a demon-possessed woman kept captive in a house.

They went straight to her, and placing their hands on her rebuked the devil: “Wicked spirit! Come out. Hasten away to hell!” The woman got up, caught hold of the sister and gave her a jolt. She was seized with a frightful disease that same instant, and since then her body is trembling all the time. What a great pity!

Dearly beloved! Let us be cautious in our lives. Let us humble ourselves before God. It is our gracious Lord Jesus who performs signs and miracles and wipes our tears! So let us fall at His feet each day and implore, “Lord! You are my everything. Grant me your grace!” He will hear our prayers and be gracious unto us!

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I come before You in humility and seek your divine blessings. I honour You with all my heart. I choose to serve You with fear and trembling. I am your humble servant. Use me as your vessel to bring glory to your name. Give me your grace and favour. Bless me with riches, honour and life.

I ask this through Christ our Lord

Amen.

Today's Word of Blessing

CHRIST OUR REDEEMER

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.    (Galatians 3:13)
Dearly beloved, Lord Jesus Christ offers eternal redemption.

A young sister named Rachael had accepted the Lord as her Saviour in her childhood. But she could get her partner only from a family of nominal Christians. She lived in sorrow and bitter disappointment. Yet she waited and prayed at the Lord’s feet, and with God’s grace tried to win her husband’s family to Christ.

At first, her pious way of living was a matter for fun and wonder to all around her. But in course of time, the love of Lord Jesus seen in her drew them all to Christ.

In that family, all the daughters-in-law were childless. So when Rachael entered the family, everyone told her that she too would not have a child. She was greatly depressed. She prayed in tears that the Lord should bless her womb. The Bible says that children are a reward from God (Psalm 127:3). Accordingly, the Lord blessed her and made her fruitful. There was great joy in the family.

Others saw a ray of hope. They all began wrestling in prayer along with Rachael. Praying for everyone with great burden, she turned every soul to Christ. She initiated everyone in prayer and Bible reading. The Lord lifted the curse that lay over that family. The other daughters-in-law also conceived soon and received the Lord’s blessings.

Even today, in this same manner, Lord Jesus is ready to bless our individual as well as family lives. Are you by any chance passing through any such curses? Lord Jesus Christ is ready to redeem you from such curses and shower His blessings upon you.

The Lord says, “As you have been an object of cursing among the nations, O Judah and Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong" (Zechariah 8:13). The Bible reveals, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’" (Galatians 3:13).

Let us acknowledge: “Lord! You became a curse for my sake. You were broken for my sins and iniquities. You were offered as a trespass offering and wounded for my diseases. Thank You dear Lord!” Make a decision: “Hereafter, I shall cling to You alone! I will live for You alone!”

The Bible states, “The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it” (Proverbs 10:22). May the Lord Himself, according to His promise, renew your lives and crown them with His blessings!

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

You are my Redeemer. You became a curse for my sake on the cross. I believe in You and receive your forgiveness by faith. I place my faith in You and receive my deliverance from all curses. Renew my life and crown me with your blessings.

I ask this through Christ our Lord

Amen.
